This part-time, home-based role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of forestry in Ireland—strengthening cooperation, promoting sustainable forest management and representing forest owners at both national and EU levels. About us

Irish Forest Owners (IFO) is a national non-profit organisation of forest owner groups, committed to training and education of forest owners, timber mobilisation and marketing, group certification and promoting afforestation.

About the position

The National Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Provide support for forest owner producer groups to help their members realise the full economic potential of their forest
  • Assist the development of commercial activities within and between forest owner producer groups to optimise economic return for forest owners
  • Facilitate and support projects and events that promote forest owner engagement with their forests; foster cooperation through a vibrant producer group network; and develop knowledge and skills in sustainable forest management, timber mobilisation and ecosystem services
  • Continue to raise the profile of and represent Irish forest owners at national and EU levels
  • Improve and develop media and communications for the organisation
  • Foster productive collaborations with other forestry organisations and representatives to promote forestry in Ireland and build confidence and trust in the sector
  • Maintain the professional structure and day-to-day running of the organisation
  • Oversee the running of the IFO group certification scheme
  • Investigate funding opportunities and income streams for the organisation
  • Maintain oversight on developments in national and EU policy relating to forestry                                

About you

You will have:

  • Experience in the forestry and/or not-for-profit sectors in Ireland
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Competent IT and data management skills
  • Ability to work on your own initiative

You will be:

  • Willing to learn on the job
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Well organised and good at time management
  • Confident about prioritising and delegating
  • Fluent in English
